Congratulations to Anne Kramer on her retirement

Anne Kramer

The MC3 Program Team congratulates MC3’s first Program Director, Anne Kramer, on her retirement, effective October 1, 2025.

After completing her Master’s degree in social work from the University of Michigan in 1985, Anne spent four decades in the mental health field as a clinician, educator, research coordinator, and program administrator.

When MC3’s founder, Dr. Sheila Marcus, launched MC3 in 2012, Anne was the first staff person hired to support and grow the program. The final years of her career were dedicated to the development of MC3. According to Dr. Marcus, “MC3 wouldn’t be what it is without Anne.”

Anne is an effective leader, staunch mental health educator and advocate, and nationally recognized for her expertise in developing and implementing psychiatry access programs.

Below are some excerpts from remarks made by Anne’s colleagues in celebration of her retirement:

Your remarkable combination of skills was foundational to building a program that impacted thousands of lives. Your heartfelt caring and strong, but gentle leadership brought out the best in everyone.”

“Thank you for your encouragement and for fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and supported.”

“Anne, you are an incredible mentor, leader, diplomat, peacemaker and advocate. Your life’s work and the impact you have made on the lives of children, women and all who you have worked with should be looked upon with immense pride. You will be greatly missed.”

“You are a shining example of mentorship with compassion, and you bring out the best in people.”

“You have made such a lasting impact on not only me, but everyone you worked with. What a legacy you are leaving behind as you start the next chapter!”

Not too many people get to this point in their career and are able to see the ‘fruits of their labor.’  You have been integral in the development and the success of MC3 in Michigan.  I cannot imagine that MC3 would be at the point it is today without you and your commitment to its success.”

Anne is being succeeded by Jenni Lane. While Anne’s colleagues will miss working with her, they are excited that she will now have the opportunity to enjoy endless travel and spend more time with her family.

Best wishes, Anne. Congratulations on your long and illustrious career!
