Emergency department (ED) providers are often the first point of care during a crisis, including mental health emergencies. When you have only moments to assess safety risks, stabilize the patient, and address medical or psychiatric contributors, you must be equipped to de-escalate effectively and deliver compassionate care.
To help you better manage patient mental health crises, MC3 offers no-cost child psychiatry consultations to ED providers at select partner sites in Michigan.
ED healthcare providers, including physicians and advanced practice providers, at select partner sites can request child psychiatry consultations from MC3. Participating partner sites currently include all Munson Healthcare ED sites and select Beacon, UM Health-Sparrow, and Covenant sites. If you do not work at a partner site but would like to learn more about this service, please email us at [email protected].
Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists are available through same-day phone consultations to provide recommendations for patients through age 21.

Our team of consulting psychiatrists and Behavioral Health Consultants understands the unique challenges within both emergency settings and mental healthcare. Drawing on this perspective and experience, we can offer comprehensive guidance to ED providers to help you deliver high-quality, compassionate care to a broad spectrum of pediatric patients at a moment’s notice.
